Maxson and Owen were both selected to the second team for medium-sized high schools, which consist of 60 members on the first and second teams. Medium schools are those that belong to state enrollment divisions that generally have between 1,000 and 2,000 students.
Maxson, a catcher out of Maize South High School in Wichita, hit .514 with four home runs and 31 runs batted in during his senior season. He was named Kansas Baseball Coaches Association Class 4A-I Player of the Year, National High School Baseball Coaches Association All-Midwest Region Team and Rawlings All-Region 5 Team.
A product of Blanchard High School in Blanchard, Oklahoma, Owen posted a .571 average with 16 homers, 63 RBI and 33 stolen bases in his senior season. Additionally, the infielder was named to the American Baseball Coaches Association All-Region 6 Team and Oklahoma City Oklahoman All-State Team.
