IHOP restaurants around the nation including Manhattan and Junction City will be offering a free short stack of buttermilk pancakes Tuesday from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. for National Pancake Day. In return, diners will be asked to leave a voluntary donation to support the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals programs at St. Francis Health Center.
“All you have to do is come in and make a voluntary donation,” said Excell Sain, assistant manager at the Junction City IHOP. “Then you can sit down and eat pancakes until you get full.”
IHOP served four million free pancakes on National Pancake Day 2012 and pancake lovers donated more than $3 million to children’s charities.
The company hopes to raise $3 million this year as well, with a goal to bring the total amount of funds raised to more than $13 million.
