RCPD Reports Car – School Bus Accident

Riley County police report a 17 year old Manhattan youth was cited for inattentive driving after the Pontiac Grand Am he was  driving ran into the back of a stopped school bus on Monday.

Brandon Helbie, 17, was northbound on Sunset in Manhattan when the Grand Am collided with the rear end of a school bus at the intersection with Claflin Road. The school bus had been stopped, waiting for a pedestrian to cross the road.

Two passengers on the bus Joanne Merritt, 76, and Leonard Castilow, 17, were transported to Mercy Regional Hospital for evaluation.
